Letter From Msgr. Donahue

Dear Members and Friends in the Body of Christ,

Praise be Jesus Christ!  Thank you for your faithful love and support to one another and to our parish community of St. Philip’s.  I am so blessed to be your Pastor and shepherd in Christ.  Our ancestors built St. Philip’s many years ago through a great sacrifice of love.  In today’s money they spent around $25,000,000 to build our beautiful Church, making a home for us to worship at Mass, receive the Body & Blood of Christ, receive forgiveness for our sins, be reborn in the Sacrament of Baptism, enter into the covenant of marriage before God’s altar, and ultimately return to God in the Mass of Christian Burial.  To those who have gone on before us we say thank you for your generous love and service.

Our time has come to continue the service and love of our ancestors in the renewal and renovation of our beautiful St. Philip’s Church.  Our brochure informs you of the many ways that new life will come to our place of worship through the renovation of St. Philip’s.  We are called to raise less than 10% of what our ancestors raised to build St. Philip’s Church.  Our goal to reach $2.15 million dollars for the renovation of St. Philip’s will honor our ancestors and provide a future for our children, their children and generations to come.

On my part, I pledge to make a donation of $110,000 over the next 4 years in support of this parish campaign, called Living Our Faith, Building Our Future, St. Philip’s Capital Campaign.    I firmly believe this project is greatly needed for our parish at this time.  In discerning what to donate toward this campaign, I recall the words of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, “If you give what you do not need, it is not giving.”  Yes, it can hurt to stretch in our giving, but isn’t that what sacrificial love is about?  It is a sacrificial prayer offered to God for ourselves and others.

I ask you to pray, discern with your loved ones, and make a sacrificial pledge to Living Our Faith, Building Our Future, St. Philip’s Capital Campaign the Body of Christ at St. Philip’s Parish.
